Packing is the part of a move that eats the two weekends before it. Handing some or all of it to a crew that does it daily turns those weekends back into weekends.

Full packing

For a full pack, the crew comes the day before a house move, or the morning of for a smaller apartment, and works room by room. Everything is wrapped, boxed to the top so nothing shifts, and labelled with the destination room, so the loading crew and the unpacking crew both know what they are looking at.

By the time the truck is loaded, there is nothing left half packed in a drawer or a closet that gets discovered at eight at night.

Materials built for the coast

Cardboard that sits on a loading dock in a Burnaby rain gets soft fast, and a soft box collapses when it is stacked three high in a truck. We use proper dish barrels, wardrobe boxes and picture cartons rated for stacking, and we keep everything under cover between the house and the truck.

Partial packing

Many households pack their own books, linens and clothes and hire us only for the kitchen, the artwork and anything glass. That keeps the cost down while putting the breakable items in hands that pack them daily. Tell us the rooms you want covered and the quote is built around that.

If you want to pack everything yourself, we can drop off materials in advance and give you a short list of what actually holds up on a truck, since a grocery-store box rarely does.

Unpacking at the other end

Unpacking means the crew empties the boxes into cabinets and closets, sets up beds and tables, and takes the flattened cardboard away with them. For anyone starting work or school the next morning, having the kitchen usable by dinner is worth more than the packing itself.

Electronics and anything that hates a truck

Televisions, computers and small appliances are photographed before any cable comes loose, then wrapped and boxed with the cords bagged and labelled by which device they belong to. Anything that does not like sitting in a cold or damp truck, such as houseplants or certain electronics, is best carried in your own car rather than packed with everything else.

We flag these items during the walk-through so nobody discovers on move day that the plant collection was riding in a closed trailer the whole time.
